The Sukosol Hotel Bangkok

Because everybody needs some pampering from time to time, as soon as we landed in Bangkok, we went straight to the Sukosol Hotel!

The three weeks we spent in the Philippines were fantastic, a dream come true! Beaches, spectacular landscapes, blue sky, crystal clear water! After all this time, I desperately wanted to take a relaxing bath in a big tub, and that was kind of unusual for me, because I rarely enjoy long baths. I feel like they’re a waste of time and resources.

Anyway. After all that beach time, we were in the mood for some lazy days spent in a big, comfortable bed with clean sheets.

This kind of break in a luxurious hotel can really help you regain some energy. Although many guesthouses in South East Asia are very clean even by European standards, in some of them mosquitoes and ants can be a problem. Especially for a sweet little girl like me :). Biting me all over is their way of showing their love! But I felt it’s time for a break in our relationship and a five star hotel in Bangkok was the perfect place to spend this time apart.

On a more serious note, the room rates at the Sukosol are very nice. At the time we were there, you could get a double room with breakfast included for about 80$.

One of the things that pleasantly surprised me was the hotel’s staff hospitality and cheerfulness.

The Sukosol is a non-smoking hotel. The smoking area is 20-30 metres away from the hotel entrance, but because we stayed at the 20th floor, many times I found that to be too far, therefore while staying here you can also give your lungs a well deserved beak.

The beds are exactly as they should be. Big, comfortable and with very clean sheets that seem to lure you to sleep. When you miss home, find a place with a kitchen and cook your favorite food. When you need some relaxation, spend a few days between your room, the pool, the spa and the restaurant of a fancy hotel.

We really enjoyed having so much space. We left our stuff all over the place, imagined having people over in our „living room” and even ran around in our playground.

There’s a pool, a gym and a wellness center at the 6th floor. The pool doesn’t offer much of a view, but because it’s on the 6th floor, it feels like an oasis surrounded by skyscrapers.

They have an excellent buffet type breakfast with a wide range of options: Thai fried rice with chicken and vegetables, bacon, beans, potatoes, omelets, scrambled eggs, sausages, fresh fruit, pancakes, croissants, cereals, jam, juices, yoghurt, milk, tea, you name it.

The temperature in the hotel is somewhere around 16 degrees Celsius, as is in every other hotel or mall in Bangkok, so you will be very comfortable under the blankets they provide! (for the record, I am exaggerating when I am saying 16 degrees)

You can find the Sukosol Hotel on Agoda, Facebook and their site.

The hotel is located in Siam, within walking distance from Phaya Thai Skytrain station. You can easily get to Siam Center, Paragon and Central World Mall, Pratu Nam market. A tuk-tuk to Khao San Road is around 150 baht, a metered taxi around 100 baht. And for your convenience, there’s a 7-Eleven right by the hotel.

The Sukosol is proof that you can combine elegance and style with a relaxed atmosphere!
